someone found his "pop-pets" (pockets) at the zoo last week. look at that swagger, he knows he is cool.

elliot thinks that the large black rectangle in the basement is good for just one thing, sunday afternoon bonding with dad watching "ball".

the team of choice is usually the bears. sometimes the bears don't play so well.

some of you may remember keith. especially since keith, a colorful and striped long-legged fellow and elliot, similarly attired, went on many adventures which were forever immortalized through the writings of well known author and cinematographer adam dahl. one sad day keith and elliot went separate ways in the airport never to recunite.

we have mourned the loss of keith for many months but are happy to report that there is a new stuffed "person" in elliot's life. bear. aptly named. now if only we could somehow recruit adam dahl to create some new adventures?

 in other news, elliot also enjoys poking the eyes of lemurs.

how to eat a watermelon

elliot, as a general rule, won't eat fresh fruit. who doesn't like fresh fruit? being somewhat in continual disbelief, i am always contriving new ways to trick him into putting just one piece in his mouth because i am convinced that if he eats one piece he will like it (i should not here that even if i am successful once, inevitably he forgets that he ever liked fruit and we start all over again).

a couple of weeks ago i had the bright idea of giving him toothpicks that he could use to stab watermelon. success! sort of. he did ea some watermelon, so i guess that is success. however, his methods were a bit peculiar:

1. pick up watermelon with your fingers.

2. insert toothpick into watermelon.

3. show-off inserted toothpick

4. possibly eat the watermelon or put it back in your bowl for future stabbing. in either case, ham it up for camera.

elliot woke up from this nap while i was still cleaning the house the other day so i put him to work! as long as there was plenty of "spray" to rub around he was happy as a clam. i can't say that much actual cleaning was accomplished though, guess i have a ways to go.

elliot does NOT like the grass. in any form. what looks like joy if it even was joy was definitely fleeting. probably lasted until he realized that he was sitting in a field surrounded by grass.

keeping the subjects in order

if someone threatens to take your spot at the top of the hierarchy of the household because they are cuter or more cuddly, the following steps should be taken:

1. examine the competition

2. poke the competition
and if that doesn't scare them, 3. throw the competition over your head

a second #1 uncle

elliot has a second #1 uncle. his name is adam. he also has a first #1 uncle named bryce. not to confuse things, both uncles are #1, there just happens to be two of them.

this post is about elliot's second #1 uncle. adam gives elliot head pats and writes novels about elliot's adventures with keith. but best of all adam really is a #1 uncle. just ask elliot, he will tell you, "da do re go ga" which means "thanks adam for being such a great uncle, oh yeah, and a great all around pal too."

the nut gets a haircut

last month we took elliot for his first haircut at a grownup barber shop in hyde park. he was very serious and slightly skeptical during most of the cut as if asking "why is this lady coming at me with large scissors?" very good question, i would be serious and skeptical too.

but underneath his mullet we found a real life little boy!

because after taking his stats, the nurse at the doctor's office told me to keep elliot warm while we waited for the doctor to come in.

garden gnome

elliot really did not enjoy being a garden gnome for halloween. i mean at all. we had a good time though, and its really all about the parents being amused, right?

fall is great

because leaves are delicious and you can let your hair fluff fly in the wind.

when life give you avocados...

elliot won't touch avocados with a 10 foot pole. but add green chilies, peppers, onions, spices and cilantro...

it's cute and all, but he is demanding. lets just say that when he doesn't get enough guacamole he isn't pleasant.
